How to assemble your Syrian hookah:

1. Fill the hookah base with water

Use just enough water to submerge the downstem about ½ inches to 1 inch. It may be helpful to hold the shaft adjacent to the hookah base (at the same height it would be sitting in the base) when adding water to get an accurate measurement.

2. Insert the hookah shaft into the base.

With the hookah base grommet attached to the shaft, firmly grasp the “heart” of the shaft and insert it into the base while “twisting” it down until a firm seal is established and the shaft sits vertically atop the base. If you experience difficulty it may be helpful to wet or apply lubricant (try some water first) to the base grommet for easier insertion.

3. Attach the hookah hose to the hookah.

Place the hookah hose into the hose adapter. Make sure to use a hookah hose grommet to ensure an airtight seal. The hose grommet can be identified as the longer, skinnier grommet included with your hookah. It may be helpful to insert the hose with a twisting motion. Repeat this step as many times as necessary for multi-hose hookahs.

4. Put a hookah mouth tip on the hose.

The hookah mouth tip is inserted into the end of the hose. Mouth tips are not required to smoke your hookah but are used for sanitary purposes when smoking with multiple people (each person should use their own mouth tip).

5. Place the hookah tray on top of the hookah shaft.

Place the hookah tray on top of the shaft. On some models of the Syrian hookahs, you must unscrew the shaft near the top, and insert the tray between the two parts of the shaft to hold it in place. On other models, the tray will simply rest in place on the shaft.

6. Put a hookah bowl grommet on the hookah bowl stem.

Hookah bowl grommets ensure an airtight seal between the bowl stem at the top of the shaft and the bowl itself. You are now ready to prepare your hookah bowl!
