these coals are not quick lite, it says on the box that they are easy light - all i did was throw em on the stove top and they were ready in about 5 mins - although they give off a coal odor when they are heating up they are not that bad - 96 for $10 what do you expect -
These coals are really hard to get going, and once you do finnaly get them to completely ash over they are so small they burn fast.
I tried the coconaras and went right back to my exotica cubes. There is 98% truth-in-advertising up there: they DO light on the stove top; they ARE odorless, they ARE tasteless, but they are miscategorized as quick-lighting. Unlike the true quick-lights and the coconaras, these coals add no harshness to your session. They provide smooth smoke, even if you're using low-quality shisha. Some of these negative reviews are just comical. Go prepare your hookah and they'll be red hot by the time you return.
i hated these things, they took forever to light even with a butane lighter. even once it was lit you had to use 2 to even be slightly good. once it was all done there still wasnt great smoke at all. overrall these coals ruined my hookah experience for about 3 weeks until we bought new ones.
so me and some friends had a hookah night and i was out of my favorite coals (coco nara aka the best) so my friend brought some of his coals but said his friend gave them to him. at that momment i had my doughts that they were good. but i just put them on the stove thinking hey this night just might still have a chance. i was deathly wrong. the moment i lit them the silver stuff on the outer part of the coals began fluttering off and made a HUGE mess. after we were done cleaning the ashy mess we began smoking. it gave off a taste... a very very harsh taste that didnt hurt but completely killed the flavor! as for smoke it gave all right smoke but nothing to really freak out about. overall 1/5 terrible coals! i cant believe theres good reviews on this! DO NOT BUY THEM!
okay quality for $10, for a good 1 hour sesh you'll need 6-8 coals. They lite fairly easy, but they give off a little ashy taste :/. The worst thing is that they fall apart quickly. I'll stick to instant lights and coco naras :)
These are not quick lights so yes, they don't light away. That is why the review says "semi-quick" It takes like 2 or 3 minutes...pack the bowl while they heat up you lazy smokers! My Opinion: These guys are small first off all. You'll need 2 for a small bowl. 3-4 for any other decent sized one. And to be honest 5-6 for the Phunnell Bowl. All silver coals in my experience tend to flake, and not "ash". Best used outdoors I'd say, that way you can just blow the flakes away. The temp they burn at is great. I think they give a nice smooth thick haul. Only negative: Light these guys really well...Burn and blow off that first silver flaky layer...before that they smell and taste like regular charcoals...after that layer is gone I think they are great. This is just my opinion though...I'm a quick light person and think I need to try more raw forms. Going to buy the Exotica raw finger coals now and try those out.
OK. They are not easy to light like some. But that effort has a payoff. They burn at a great temp. Other's like this (Some coconut thing) dont burn hot enugh for the tobacco. This is just perfect. I light on a electric coil stove, but defently forget using a BIC on these. Lit the Golden with no intent to use and it reaked and sparked. Overall rating: Increadable
These take forever to light. I timed my boyfriend once and it took him nearly 2 minutes to get anywhere with them. You also need more of them. The other spark ones work in a matter of 5 seconds or less. Don't waste your money or time on these
i really like these coals- no coal taste and last an extremely long time. the only thing that i dont like about them is that i have a hard time lighting them... but that could be just me.
These coals are aren't worth buying. They are not quick lighting, they don't last long, they are pretty messy, and I have to use at least 3 coals at a time to get some good smoke, I won't be buying these again
These are more of a middle ground between quick lite and natural. They are quicker than natural, but don't spark like QL's. I prefer them to the other silver tab style, because they do light quicker than the cheaper ones (maybe a minute on a butane lighter) and they have little or no taste. I can tell when I put too many on, but barely. I have never gotten a harsh smoke though. I would use these over any others. They're definitely the best price wise.
I do agree with the previous reviewer in that this are quite as "quick lighting" as some other sparking brands. However, I always use a hand held propane torch and have never taken more than one minute to light any coal I've come across. As for these coals, they burn nice and long and have added absolutely no flavor to the shisha that I've been able to distinguish. I will be buying again, and would recommend them to anyone I meet.
so these coals are my favorite brand when you are buying natural coals, but when it comes to quick lights don't buy these. exotica will increase your smoking experience more than any others, but these coals take forever to light with lighters and don't spark up like other quick lights do.
