This is a fancy "check valve" that is used to purge stale or harsh smoke from your hookah base.  These were originally made for our Syrian Hookahs but will also fit on our Egyptian Hookahs, Large Mod Hookahs, Small Mod Hookahs, and Rotating Hookahs.
 
These release valves feature a colored "bead" and are available in both silver and gold colors.  Smoke is released through a check valve by blowing through your hose (must be using a non-autoseal hose adapter).  A ball bearing (sold separately) sits in between the threads and the valve to ensure an air-tight seal.

Works well, and the gold check valve + fancy color bead on it is an exceptional add on to the Glyph and Engineer hookahs
