good
Wow guys, this isn't some elaborate contraption used to replace coals on your hookah. It's a portable coal lighter for when you don't have a stove and you don't want to use quicklights. Read the description of the product. Stop putting it on your hookah.
Use it as a heater for charcoal and it works pretty good. It takes a few minutes, but it heats the coal perfectly and eases the use of natural coal (which is the best of course) The best thing is that it stays relatively cool underneath, so there is no need to put it on any thing heat-resistant
I couldn’t help but notice that some of you are buying this and putting it on the bowl of your hookah then are upset that it is burning your tobacco. Surprise That is not what this is for!! It is to heat the coals that you are putting on your bowl. Now, with this new knowledge, give it a shot and see how you like the product.
This device does what it's designed to do fairly well. It's good, not great but it gets the job done. Works much better for quick lights (but a match can work just as well)...natural coals take some time but they get there. Only downside is the need of an electrical socket. Read descriptions of a product before you purchase it... On a side note here...to all of those negative reviews from the people actually trying to use this device as a replacement for coals...wow. I don't know what you're smoking in your hookahs...but I would suggest stopping, your brains are melting.
worth the price for me as cleaning is now much easier. Whats more i have a portable charcoal lighter. actually heats up fast too. recommended!!
this was made about 5 years ago to REPLACE coals and it doesnt work as well as coals so now it is used as a coal starter.
Actually it works great heating the shisha i but the foil pocket the holes on my funnel bowl put the heat up and it works great heats up all my shisha and lights my coconaras perfect also
ive read some of these reviews and you people realy need to read the summory of this item. It is used to heat the COALS and nor stick on top of the bowl. This looks great for lighting natural coals without the mess on the stove and without riskingcarpet burn while carring the coals across the house.
I bought this to just light my Coco Nara coals (tired of weird, chemical-tasting quick lights), and it works like a charm. Just turn the heater element upside down (handle pointing up), switch it on and turn the knob to the max, place three coals on the tray, and in a little over five minutes, your coals are lit and you don't need to go trekking halfway across the house to the kitchen to grab them off the stove. I haven't had much luck using the heater to actually replace the coals (can't seem to get the temp just right), but as a charcoal lighter, it's a lifesaver. I take it with me whenever I know my friends and I will be smoking. Great product!
I just went out and spent $20 on an electric coal lighter and a starter chimney. Works great, might grab a coal holder though, savings down to $20
I had high hopes for this product, but although a good idea, it doesn't work out. I thought electrically heated coils would be the perfect alternative to charcoal. I was wrong. This thing produced harsh air when used instead of coal. It wasn't even thick harsh smoke. There was barely any smoke and the air coming off of the hookah was very harsh. My hypothesis for the harsh air is that microscopic metal particles came off of the heated coil. These particles become airborne and enter the hookah to be eventually inhaled by the smoker. This causes a harsh sensation and is likely very unhealthy. If there were a product that was similar to this one, but that worked, I'd be the first to buy it. Maybe if something like this were made but with a glass shield between the metal coil and the bowl, or with a strong magnet employed this problem would be solved. Only time will tell.
Some people think you actually use this instead of coals. wow i cant believe that. you actually light your coals with it. i like quicklights better. i usually use my hookah at the beach so there is no place to plug this is.
After having tryed pretty much everything to light my natural coals. I was amazed to see that this heater actually produced a hookah ready coal within 6-8 minutes of being turned on. Pay attention to the heat level while using it as the coals set on fire fast. I'd recommend putting a windcover on top of it also (or maybe put it in a large pan) to prevent sparks from being thrown around by the wind if you use it outside.
I bought this product in desperation a year ago when I was forced to look for another heat source besides my kitchen stove and this was my first option. For the price of this thing it is pretty bad. It never heated just right and since it was constant heat you have to contantly smoke or the shisha will burn really fast.
