I bought these coals because my girlfriend can't stand the smell of regular quick lights - These coals did have less of that chemical smell, so it works in that sense - The main problem is these coals tend to spark quite a bit and some even explode when lighting - About half of the coals break apart or explode, sending pieces of hot coal all over - The farthest a piece went after exploding was 6ft - If you are outside when lighting it will be ok as long as you shield your eyes from flying pieces - If you are indoors, expect burn marks on your floors and furniture
I have used a box of these in Mint - They light very well though a tad differently than the 3 Kings I have grown to love - The coal is a bit more smooth and controlled in its burn from spot of ignition - I have had these split apart while burning or when dropping to knock off ash - This usually does not cause any big problems but you do NEED to be aware that you are possibly picking up 2 chunks where there was 1 coal previously - This is visible and not hard to figure out - Just thought it was note worthy for a good detailed review - The MINT coals have a faint smell of mint but the best quality is the diminished amount of "chemical" smell that can alert neighbors down the hall or in the next room over - in dorm like situations and you are smoking indoors A great little tip for lighting insta lights very quickly is to dip them into some denatured alcohol and then light them up - Or you can dribble some on the coal - If doing this ontop of the hookah you should turn the coal upside down to act like a cup and then make sure you are using a squeeze bottle or something similar to do the precision squirting - Also I highly recommend picking up a wind cover -
I decided to buy this charcoal because my father went to Germany and brought me the 40mm versions of this charcoal - Is the best charcoal I have ever used so far - Unfortunately, I tried to use this charcoal - It does not have a scent and it breaks apart when you light it - My carpet is now destroyed due a charcoal breaking in little pieces when I was trying to light it - Additionally, the charcoal is not good for smoking at all - The hookah becomes too strong to smoke with a single charcoal - I used to put two pegasus on my hookah, one for the first 35-40 mins and another to finish the session - With this charcoal I cannnot stand a 30 minute session - I am very disappointed with this brand
These coals were decent - I broke my first roll open yesterday and had a nice relaxing party - between 7 people we smoked about 200 grams or so - - which equates to quite a few coals - We started on these, and the regular hookah smokers were impressed, as was i, by the spark produced when these coals were lit - The quick-lights fire up slowly and then just ignite - It was a little startling for the guests but no problem for myself - However i purchased the coconut scented coals, after debating about getting the grape, I wanted a more so natural smell if you will - I wasnt able to smell it but it seemed almost everyone else could - They said it wasnt too noticeable, but in a good way - The smoke produced was much thinner and less of an annoyance than the Ignite and Three Kings brand quick-lights we lit up later - If you need coals and quite a bit of quick-lights I would say these are fine - For the price and the fact that they work well and just as other quick-lights would if not that they just require a little bit less maintenance, as these coals ash a little nicer than the others I found that one coal broke when a friend was trying to light it, might not be the manufacturers poor quality, possibly just my friend xD After reading some reviews on hookah-shisha I've decided my next purchase will be Coco-Nara coals because as it seems all quick-lights are quite similar and I need something easier, nicer, and simply better -
