Hookah-Shisha Bowl Buying Guide

Shika Sandstorm Bowl Description

*These bowls are handmade and vary in color/size*
Do you wanna go old school? If so the Sand Storm bowl should be the first item on the list, behind a traditional hookah setup. These Sandstorm bowls might have actually survived a couple of real sandstorms during their time in Egypt, where this bowl received some quality handwork. This bowl is completely unglazed, so you will never need to worry about a glaze fading or cracking on you during its lifetime.

NOTE: The Girly bowl option has the rainbow glitter, but you may have already figured that out.

Sandstorm of Flavor

The Shika Sandstorm bowl is designed to function like a classic phunnel bowl, featuring one single air channel with a surrounding loading area. Just like many other phunnel bowls, the Sandstorm features a raised spire to prevent any leakage in your hookah stem or base. We haven't met the hookah smoker that enjoys cleaning up a mess after a session, which is why we find the phunnel bowl benefits to be so useful.

Utilizing the Sandstorm bowl in your smoke session allows you trap the flavor inside the bowl, prolonging the flavor for a better experience. This bowl can be used in combination with the Kaloud Lotus, so you can sit back and enjoy a very clean session with phenomenal flavor output.

Shika Sandstorm Specifications

The Sandstorm bowl may be the beefiest bowl to add to your collection, with its combined weight and size, your friends will know that "It's about to go down" when you go to load it. Since these bowls are handmade they tend to vary slightly on their sizing, the height is around 5 inches and the overall diameter is 3 1/2 inches. Each bowls typically allows for up to 17-20 grams of shisha to be used, allowing for several types of packing methods to be utilized. Without the use of glaze some flavors may require a higher level of cleaning, and our pro-tip of the day would be boiling them in water, this releases any trapped flavors or colors.

We recommend using the Sand Storm bowl with a mod bowl grommet to ensure a tight seal.

"Easy draw/Easy temp control"
Darren Williams on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 9:20:04 AM

The Shika Sandstorm bowl is a thick and heavy made phunnel bowl - I have found that it takes a couple extra minutes to get it up to a good temp but once it gets there it is easy to maintain - I use three cubes and sometimes take the third one off when it gets to the right temp - And an awesome draw to go with it - Can’t beat it for the price!

"Awesome Value for a Great Bowl"
Anthony Hammerling on Monday, October 16, 2017 5:33:31 PM

For some reason accidents always happen on my granite counter, so I've gone through many different brands of phunnel and vortex bowls - I took a shot on the Shika Sandstorm for price alone and discovered my new absolute favorite - It's VERY durable and smokes better than more expensive bowls - We smoke Tangiers using Coco Nara coals, and the heat management is superb with this bowl -

"Great Bowl"
Dean Jones on Saturday, November 12, 2016 2:54:39 PM

I love this old school bowl - It's got a nice size and heft and has a very impressive presence to it, especially in the hand - It smokes fantastically and looks great on my Sahara Smoke Executive stem - It does pick up flavors and you probably should dedicate it to one flavor but I don't and love the flavor and smells it is picking up - It's just going to get more seasoned the more I use it and that's a good thing to me -

"Perfect for a dedicated set-up"
Mike Speek on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 8:09:46 PM

I might be a bit wordy, so let me start by saying HOLY CRAP! This is the perfect bowl to suit my needs - I've tried just about every flavor under the sun and always find myself going right back to that one dream flavor - As for this bowl, the unglazed clay absorbs flavor the way a traditional bowl should - It has a clear, effortless draw for those who seek monstrous clouds - Because of the flavor absorption you should stick with only one flavor or in my case two since I do double apple with mint to make the most out of this bowl - Long lasting flavor, easy to pack, and the draw, oh dear lord, the draw - Very powerful and noisy, just the way I like it - It's a bit heavy, and has some height to it so I'd recommend a 23" hookah or above - If I had any complaints it would be that because of its size the Sandstorm eats shisha like no other, and that it takes a lot of heat to get started - That being said, you can make this bowl last and last - I'm on an hour and a half so far and my shisha isn't even charred yet - Still tastes like the first set of coals - This thing has all the smoke and draw of an Egyptian bowl with the prolonged session and ease of cleaning of a phunnel - For those of you who know how to dedicate a hookah to a single flavor, the Sandstorm is a must have for your collection -

"This is the Bowl"
Kevin Umbaugh on Sunday, May 10, 2015 5:25:27 PM

If you are shopping for a new bowl, get this one - The clay bowl is just like the hookah bars in the middle east - The big lip on top the bowl helps insure the foil and coals are not touching the shisha - This is a great bowl - There is no need to look further
