Deep in the jungles of Madagascar a hookah enthusiast was searching far and wide for the perfect wood material to use for a new hookah he was helping design. He sought out the best lumberjacks and carpenters on the island, and they all told him the same thing - "It is the wood of the Merbau tree you seek." Their suggestion proved useful, and so the lumber used in one of Wookah's six different hookah stems was found.

The masterminds over of the Wookah team in Poland have brought together the best materials, used the best technology, and the finest craftsmanship, to present the world with their work of art - the Wookah Merbau Hookah. This hookah features high quality merbau wood, V2A stainless-steel, and hand-cut heavy duty crystal glass. The use of wood in the stem, the nature of the handcrafted product, and the eight different crystal bases you can chose from, make each Wookah unique.

From the Deepest, Darkest Jungle

The merbau (Otherwise known as Intsia bijuga) is a species of flowering tree in the pea family that is found around the Indian Ocean - from Tanzania and Madagascar to India, Australia, and the island of Samoa. Merbau wood is extremely durable and termite-resistant, which makes it highly prized as wood for flooring - among other uses. The wood is also valued for the dye that can be extracted from it, as well as a gold fleck that runs through the wood's grain.

Last little fun fact - the Merbau is known by several names around the world, and one of them, "ipil," is regarded as the official tree of the U.S. territory of Guam.

Jungle Steel

Steel is an amazing substance, and when used properly (as in "blue steel" stopping a flying ninja star) it can do amazing things. The Wookah team uses high quality V2A stainless-steel in each and every one of their hookahs. This stainless-steel is cut by CNC Lathe machines, which are top of the line in precision metal cutting.

Any part of the Wookah Merbau that screws in and connects features fine cut stainless-steel threading that makes putting the Wookah together fast and simple. Each threaded connection uses silicone washers to prevent any over-tightening or stripping of the threads. No need to use all your strength; when screwing the stem into the base you should be finished tightening when the Wookah logo on the stem lines up with the Wookah logo on the base. If you strip the threading, you must really be trying. And that just doesn't make sense; don't hurt the Wookah!

The purge and hose valves on the Wookah Merbau are identical, and the stainless-steel purge is removable. You can move the purge to either port, and it will work just the same. Or take the purge out altogether and turn your Wookah into a two-hose hookah.

In the Heart of the Tree

In addition to the exterior use of stainless-steel, the downstem in each Wookah features the same high quality V2A stainless-steel, which means your downstem will never suffer from rust or corrosion. Stainless-steel is very durable and, as long as you take decent care of it, will give your hookah a long life. There's more! Stainless-steel doesn't retain strong flavor profiles, and with a quick rinse the Wookah is ready for your next smoke session.

The downstem also features a wide-open gauge which allows a high volume of smoke to flow through with every pull. There is no bell or flared ending on the downstem, so you can place a diffuser there if you want. Diffusers help make each pull smooth, as well as dampening the noise from the rumble.

Crystal Roots

With this hookah you're not only getting exceptional quality and uniqueness in the stem, you get it with the base as well! Wookah has multiple base options for you to chose from, each made with heavy duty crystal glass that is handcrafted and ready to rumble! From the blowing of the glass to the etching of the intricate designs, each Wookah base is handmade. The heavy duty crystal glass gives the base a good weight that helps keep the hookah from wobbling or shifting as you smoke. The bottom of each base also has several rubber stoppers to help give the base extra traction and hold on whatever surface it rests.

"Would you Wookah That?"
Cameron Joudi on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 6:34:14 PM

This is by far the most expensive hookah I have ever smoked out of - My brother got one at the beginning of the summer this year and after the first session I was convinced - This hookah not only looks absolutely amazing, but smoke just as great - The really astounding thing about this piece is the quality of material you are getting with this purchase - From the ash trey to the down stem to the base, you can feel the weight and solidness this hookah's parts are made with - The wood looks great, but will say the pictures make it look a little redder than ours actually is - We understood that no tree is the same and obviously the colors will vary - Anyways, if you have the money I would highly recommend this hookah to all -
